GARMIN StreetPilot c3xx/c5xx-series

Compact GPS receiver with very fast auto-routing, voice guidance, color display with touchscreen, integrated world and Europe/Africa map plus USB interface. Well suited for all kinds of vehicles but also suitable as hand held device.

The GARMIN StreetPilot c320/c330s/c510/c550 provide very fast automatic route calculation, visual and voice guidance, are easy to use, have a large, easy to read color display with touch screen, an extremely sensitive antenna, an integrated world map (overview) plus a base map of Europe, Africa and the near East.
The StreetPilot c320 has a slot for a standard SecureDigital (SD) memory module to store detailed maps with even more information, such as local roads, restaurants and points of interest. The StreetPilot c330s has a built in 2.2 GB disk drive pre-loaded with detailed maps of all of Europe. In addition, this model has a slot for an optional SD memory module to store additional detailed maps.
The model c510 has 324 MB memory built-in, the detailed maps of all of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria, Southern Germany, Eastern France and Northern Italy are pre-loaded. The model c510 Delux also includes a DVD with detailed maps of all of Europe. The model c510 Europe includes a 2 GB SecureDigital memory card with the detailed maps of all of Europe already loaded. The later two models also include a TMC receiver to receive traffic news.
The model c550 comes with detailed maps of all of Europe already loaded. It has a speech computer to announce the names of the roads, to speak words and phrases of the language guides and travel books and it has a built-in MP3 player. It is equipped with a BlueTooth interface to communicate with mobile phones which have the required communication capabilities in order to call hotels, restaurants, car rental offices etc. whose phone numbers are stored on the GPS with a single touch on the screen. The StreetPilot c550 can act as a hands-free extension set to the phones. It also also includes a TMC receiver to receive traffic news.

The StreetPilot c320/c330s/c510/c550 provide navigation information outdoors, in a car, in a train or even in an airplane (see MapSource examples).

Differences between StreetPilot c320, c330s, c510 and c550:

All models provide basically the same functions and have similar features. The main differences relate to memory and what is pre-loaded:

• Memory to download additional, even more detailed maps with roads, crossings and addresses of restaurants, public buildings, points of interest etc. from a PC:

• Suited as a hand held device or to be used in any kind of vehicles. Comes with power cable and mounting kit with suction cup for quick mounting and dismounting to easily remove the GPS receiver (seamless switching between cars, theft protection etc.), does not require any installation.
  
  
• Model c510/c550 only:
  • FM traffic news receiver (TMC receiver). Receives and processes traffic news messages broadcasted by radio stations. If the GPS receives a message about a traffic jam, blocked road etc. along the planned route, it can automatically compute a detour. Traffic news messages are broadcasted by many radio stations in various European countries including Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. These messages are broadcasted for free and do not require any subscriptions. The TMC receiver works independent from the car radio and finds stations with traffic news messages automatically. The TMC receiver is available as an options for the model StreetPilot c510 standard.
  
  
• Model c550 only:
  • Speech computer to announce the names of the roads and to read language and travel guides. The GPS does not only prompt with directions, but it also announces the name of the streets. If an optional travel or language guide is installed, the GPS speaks single words and complete sentences.
  • BlueTooth interface & connector for optional microphone. The BlueTooth interface allows the GPS to communicate with mobile phones which have the required communication capabilities in order to call hotels, restaurants, car rental offices etc. whose phone numbers are stored on the GPS with a single touch on the screen. It can also act as a hands-free extension set to the mobile phones. An external microphone is available as an option to improve the sound quality.
  • MP3-Player. Listen to your favorite music while travelling. Transfer music as MP3 files to the GPS. The StreetPilot c550 is also equipped with a line-out connector, so you can connect your GPS to your car or home stereo equipment.
  
  
• Large, illuminated, easy to read LCD display: Dimension: 71x53 mm (2.8x2.1 inches), resolution: 320x240 pixels, 65536 colors.
• Manual or automatic switching of the display between daytime and nighttime, based on time and the current position (changes the colors of the display between sunset and sunrise for more comfortable viewing) Daytime: bright background, nighttime: dark background.

• Powered by built-in battery (lifetime up to 8 h) or by an external 12/24 V power source, e.g. from a car's lighter (power cord included).
